Client Testimonials
The following are some unsolicited comments from Curatron clients.

I would like you to know how thrilled I am with our Curatron. My family and I have been using it for about a year for a variety of things, including migraines, joint & muscle soreness and to accelerate healing. It is incredibly effective, especially in averting a migraine.

Vicki Clough – Michigan, USA

We really enjoy the Curatron. My wife’s back is significantly better. I have also seen improvement in my asthma. Since we are using the Curatron every day and even for travel, we have purchased another unit.
J. Parker, Texas, USA

I am 69 years old and have osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis. I have used my Curatron every day for osteoporosis for 6 months. I was having continual pain in my neck and shoulders before I got the Curatron and lost 1 and a half inches in height in my upper spine and had developed a dowager’s hump over the last three years. After about 5 weeks of use, the pain in my upper neck is gone, my neck and shoulders are stronger and I have not had any further curvature of the upper back and neck due to osteoporosis since I began the use of the Curatron. I also use the Curatron for pain if I have an arthritis flare. I went nearly 5 months relatively pain-free which is unusual for me. Due to stress, I had an episode with my left hip this week but I have been able to continue going about my daily activities with muscle relaxants and mild pain medication. During the previous hip episode before I started using the Curatron, I was unable to walk for 4 or 5 days, even with the medication and required 6 weeks of physical therapy where I first had EMP therapy. From my personal experience, I would recommend the Curatron to anyone with pain from any type of arthritis.
Ikey Newman, Yukon OK

It is amazing to see the results of your wonderful PEMF device. Patients are very happy with their recovery and the results are simply superb and most encouraging.
Dr. CP Prabhakaran, Chennai, India

I have used the Curatron for ten months now for hip pain associated with avascular necrosis. It is very effective and controls the pain to the extent that I have full range of motion and can walk normally with no pain. I am very glad I got it and recommend it highly.
Brian Devon, Anaconda, MT, USA

Curatron therapy is an essential part modern management for osteoarthritis and I have treated many patients with full satisfaction.
Dr. Bijan Kaviani, Vancouver BC, Canada

We are successfully using Curatron PC units in our Pain Clinic for over 4 years. We found it to be especially good when treating persons with osteoarthritis and after 18 sessions 85% of our patients were remarkably improved. 70-100% of the patients are pain free and stay that way for close to a year after which they return for another series of treatments. After 3 sets of treatments they then only need to come in for the occasional session. We would highly recommend the use of PEMF therapy using the curatron PC unit for anyone suffering from osteoarthritis.
Sheila Hatfield, BC Canada

I have been using the Curatron 2000PC for some 19 months now and have now been able to reduce my medications.
I use the Curatron daily for various problems associated with my spinal cord injury and continue to find the results remarkable.
I have also treated the foot of a friend, which had become crippled from 30 year old fracture, after a horse stood on it. In just 3 months the foot is much straighter and the large bulge is much reduced leaving us all amazed. With much appreciation.
Susan Bennett-G, Australia

We loooove your system. I suffer from chronic upper back problems due to working all day reading and on the computer. I almost feel normal now! My mom suffers from pain in the wrists and the pain is now gone. Since we both use it we actually fight for it, this is why I want another one.
Gabriel Romanillos, Mexico

The Curatron machine is just wonderful and amazing. As a therapist who always tries new products on myself to ascertain how it works, before trying it on patients. The back problem I have had for 7 years has been cured with 5 daily sessions of using the machine. I have had on and off pain in my right sacro-iliac joint for seven years, which has been more or less constant in the past year and becomes worse with prolonged walking. I did every thing I know to do as a physiotherapist and do get pain relief, but not complete elimination of the pain. I used the Curatron every night before going to sleep for 5 days and the pain is completely gone! For the first time in about 2 years I was able to remain on my feet for 2 hours without needing to sit down in between and take a rest because of the pain in my back.
This is now my second week of being completely pain free and not needing to take any analgesic for pain and it is not in my head but it is real! It is wonderful. Thank you.
Christine Ezediuno PT, UK

I have used and recommend the Curatron 2000XP to treat many conditions involving the musculo-skeletal system and many pain problems as well. I have found it to be a unique and helpful device for my patients.
Dr. Ronald L. Neurologist

I have found the Curatron PEMF therapy to be very useful for fatigue, fibromyalgia, painful conditions which do not show up on diagnostic imaging, asthma, headaches, insomnia, and lack of vitality to name some of the conditions I have treated with this technology. An almost universal theme is that people feel a feeling of wellness and calmness after the treatment with often extends beyond the treatment.
Dr. B. S.

I saw a patient with chronic fibromyalgia at the front desk after her second PEMF treatment with Curatron. I asked her how she felt. She said “WONDERFUL”. I asked her why she felt wonderful and she replied “Because I don’t feel any pain now!”
The patient continues to improve, she just had her third treatment.
Dr. Bob S.

I have used your Curatron clinical model for over a year now and the results for my patients has been nothing short of amazing. Patients with chronic pain from fibromyalgia, arthritis etc. have had tremendous reductions in pain with increase in their ROM. Also, fatigue from various chronic conditions have also responded with very satisfactory results. However, the most amazing results have been with osteoporotic patients. In most cases, bone mass significantly increased in 3-6 months. This being truly phenominal because treatments for osteoporosis usually takes in excess of 12 months to see any change in bone mass. I can say with confidence that the Curatron technology has helped my patients and I would highly recommend this to anyone who is suffering.
Dr. James C.

I have the system up and running.  I am extremely happy with the results, and I do not think I will be disappointed in the future. As you know I have used the Magnetoron over 20 years. I was happy with the results with this device also, but the Curatron is superior in several ways. It is physically much easier to use than a barrel that came with the Magnetoton. Also, your power is higher, and I think that makes the system more effective.
Dr. Bill B.

I purchased a Curatronic mattress from you and began rebuilding the density of my bones successfully. Thank you very much.  My life is far better then it was.
Vondell S.

After one week of analyzing your machine, I confirmed it. It’s the best of the three! I also own the QRS and MagnoPro. I started with the QRS about 2 years ago. Then purchased the MagnoPro and liked it much better. But none of those compares to your unit. It’s really that good. You can feel the warmth during the sessions. Sleep deeper. overall energy has increased. Thanks so much!!!!
Ernesto R.

I purchased the system for my mother. She had a myriad of spinal problems. She said that she continues to use it daily and truly believes she would have had to have surgery had it not been for finding the Curatron. She reports she’s able to do things that she couldn’t do before, as well as having more energy that lasts longer into the day. She’s a firm believer in the Curatron!
J. G.

After many years of suffering from very painful knees, I finally decided to do something about it and purchased the Curatron system. At the start I did some experimenting and I have now settled for program 3. My pain level is definitely much less than it was a few months ago when I started on the Curatron. The only things I have changed in life are starting to use the Curatron and taking cod liver oil. I am convinced that the Curatron does the actual part of the pain reduction.
One more interesting observation: if I use the Curatron every day for 30 minutes my knees feel VERY good but when not using it for 3 days the pain gradually starts to return so I make sure I use the Curatron at least every other day.
J. B.

My name is Deni Stewart and I have fibromyalgia. This syndrome, as FM has been labeled, has completely changed my life and definitely not for the better. The constant pain has been so much of a disabling factor that I can no longer function normally. One of the many facets of FM is something I commonly call “body hum”. If you are a fellow FM suffer you already understand what I mean. After three treatments this “body hum” has been totally eliminated. I am extremely grateful to Sheila and the PEMF treatments for enhancing the quality of my life. Now after several more treatments I have found that I sleep more deeply and I have seen moderate changes to my body’s overall stability. The effects of the changes resulting from PEMF treatments have been observed by several health care professionals but especially my chiropractor. He commented that I am now more capable of holding an adjustment. He also observed that I seem to be much happier in general. And this is the case…I have had a wonderful summer…one I don’t think I would have had without PEMF. Thank you!
Denis S, Canada

I was very surprised by my personal experience. I am a fervent sportsman and train daily but often suffer from painful ulceration on my feet, for which I use sometimes some ointment. After a long company holiday in January I returned to our freezing office and could not endure that my feet were numbed with the cold. At last I brought the Curatron into my office and put the pad under my feet and switched it on. For a while my feet were warmed and became comfortable. When I came home in the evening and took off my socks I was very surprised and could not believe it: my painful ulcerated athlete’s foot was healed up completely in only one day! Thank you Curatronic!
Zen S, Tokyo, Japan

We are having very good success with the equipment. Our success rate is between 87-90% and we see remarkable results in our patients. The equipment is easy to operate does not take up more space than a small computer desk. The clients find it quite comfortable and enjoy their quiet time while they are being treated. We only have one center right now but are in the middle of planning to set up a new second clinic in a more populated area with a couple of systems. Curatronic has been an absolute wonderful advisor while we got used to the equipment and the proper way of using the equipment with the different clients and their problems. They do not just sell you the equipment and leave you high and dry but they are very supportive and helpful. The equipment works extremely well with lower back pain, OA and sciatic problems. I highly recommend the Curatron, we would not consider opening up our other centers with any other equipment than Curatron.
Sheila H. R.N. Canada

We compared many different PEMF systems at our therapy center and the Curatron has opened up a new world for us. We have now in use 4 sets of clinical Curatron machines at our therapy center. Over the last 2 years we have treated thousands of patients and they have greatly benefited from the Curatron systems. With the help of the Curatron we witness the cure of inflammations, osteoarthritis, relief of rheumatic pains and pain in general and extremely fast fracture healing, better and in a much shorter time than with any other therapy device.

In addition we use the systems for migraine, neuralgia, fibromyalgia, tendinitis, trauma and wound healing. We highly recommend the use of the Curatron.
Izik F. DPT Sheba Hospital, Israel

On my visit to New Delhi I met with your distributor for Curatron and found it an excellent masterpiece of Digital, Pulsating, Low frequency Electromagnetic field.
Dr. J. P. Karela, India

I have been using the Curatron XP for about three weeks now and I can report that a persistent pain I had been experiencing at areas along my spine has subsided to the point that I am only rarely aware of it.
T. E.

I have been intending to contact you with regard to the Curatron 2000 PC. I am very pleased with the results. I have received very positive feedback from the patients who were previously treated by the ELEC System.

I had to quit dancing because of a severe pain that had crept through my body. I was in severe pain in all parts of my body when we came across the Curatron line of products. After one month on the machine the symptoms were gone and I just continue to use the unit regularly. I have made it back now to dancing for which I am extremely thankful.

Due to arthritis and spurs, my neck was killing me. The muscles tightening were obviously constricting the blood flow to the head, besides, a bad knee too, kept me in check. Then I bought a Curatron home system. I used it alternately on different places of my body. I have had great results.
N.P., U.K.

Rheumatoid Arthritis in both my hands rendered me sleepless for years. Growing deposits on my fingers and pain equivalent to knitting needles poking through my hands had me wondering about a normal life. Then one day I was introduced to the Curatron machine. At night I would use the unit reducing the pain and swelling by 90% almost instantly. Subsequently my condition in the past two months has greatly improved. I’m able to move my fingers and see the knuckles on my hands because the swelling is gone. And I can work and sleep again. What a find.
B.S.

I am 73 and I was suffering with severe pain in my left elbow. It was so painful that it kept me awake at night. I used a Curatron unit and was able to sleep all night after just a few days. After several weeks my elbow was pain free.
S.D.A.

As a dentist suffering form a tennis elbow it became more and more problematic to treat my patients and to extract teeth, due to my seriously painful arm. After 6 weeks Curatron treatments the pain had completely gone and I was able to resume my work without further problems.

The “Ideal” Clinical System

We’ve been selling the Curatron 2000 PC for a while now. From time to time we are asked “How should I equip my clinic?”. There is no question the one system you really should have is the Curatron 2000PC which includes an interface to a PC or laptop. Click here to see more detail on the Curatron 2000PC.

The PC interface provides you with a patient register to record treatment history and allows you to access the full capability of the Curatron 2000. The basic software has a list of more than sixty treatments (see list of treatment protocols click here)  and you can create your own. This leads us to make the following recommendation for the optimal system for a typical clinical environment where you will need several treatment modalities.

The “recommended” system is:

Description (Recommended Clinical System) Price
Curatron 2000PC-MAT, includes PC software and PC interface cable & full body mattress (26″ x 71″) $5,290.00
Therapy Pad (20″ x 28″) $495.00
High Energy Coil “B” – 1000 Gauss $630.00
Special Switch Box, this permits the connection of any two applicators (e.g. the full mattress and the coil or perhaps two mattresses to be operated separately or simultaneously, except the High Energy Coil “B” which much operate alone) Free
With
Clinical System
Total system cost (Click to order) *$6,415.00

* Prices in effect April 2009 – Subject to change.

The C2000PC is connected to a PC and the PC software allows the clinician to choose one of many treatment protocols (see the list below) or create his own protocols and store them in the PC for later use. The PC model allows the clinician to drive the output higher than that on the C2000XP by roughly 50%. The 700 Gauss Coil on the XP becomes 1000 Gauss when run with the PC model.

Power to the People! Let’s talk Intensity!

Manufacturer Intensity
Curatron 2000 HT 7 mT or 7000 μT
Curatron 2000 XP 10 mT or 10,000 μT
Curatron 2000 PC 15 mT or 15,000 μT
Bemer 3000 0 to 100 μT
QRS 40 μT
MRS2000 0.1 μT to 65 μT

One of the things that our competitors fail to discuss openly on their websites is power or energy levels generated by their systems. When we measure magnetism, we measure “magnetic induction” or “magnetic flux density”

It’s unfortunate that the industry uses both terms Gauss and Tesla and these two measurement systems are different. Both Nikola Tesla and Carl Friedrich Gauss contributed significantly to the world of science and each is honored with the use of his name as a unit of measuement.

Tesla has replaced Gauss as the primary measurement of magnetic induction and one Tesla equals 10 gauss. Ben Philipson, the creator of the Curatron has done a great job of trying do de-myth the world at his www.pemft.com website which was created solely to explain the technology of PEMF Therapy.

We also need to understand our decimal system, we talk about milli Tesla “mT” and micro Telsa “μT” and some makers use the terms interchangeably. Let’s just say that there are 1,000,000  μT in a Tesla and there are 1,000 mT in a Tesla so one mT is 1000 times larger than 1 μT. If we were talking dollars, we’d take more care in the terms we use.

Briefly let me talk about the energy levels from the major brands of PEMF sytems

Manufacturer Intensity *
Curatron 2000 HT 7 mT or 7000 μT
Curatron 2000 XP 10 mT or 10,000 μT
Curatron 2000 PC 15 mT or 15,000 μT
Bemer 3000 0 to 100 μT
QRS 40 μT
MRS2000 0.1 μT to 65 μT

* Measured with full sized mattress. The Curatron 2000 PC when using at full power with a High Energy Coil generates up to 100 mT (1,000  μT)

To see the range of Curatron 2000 models << Click Here >>. It’s important to note that the Curatron 2000 is a family of products including the:

  • C-2000-HT (Home Therapy System)
  • C-2000-XP (Advanced/Premium Home or simple Clinical system)
  • C-2000-PC (Professional Therapist PC Controlled System)

Our competitors seem to fail to mention the huge capability and range of capability of the Curatron family of products.

Simply put the Curatron is in an entirely separate class.

PEMF Technology

Confusing, confusing, confusing. Permanent Magnets do not generate Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Fields and the sites that say this out there are just wrong, either because the site creator does not have clue about technology or more probably is trying to mislead his audience.

There has been a growing trend of late among some sompanies to use very aggressive marketing techniques which sometimes offer false and misleading information. This is clearly done to get you to buy their systems which for the most part offer no MEASURABLE benefit but to the person who is expecting relief, the placebo effect can be very great.

At this blog, I will do my best to help you uncover what you need to uncover to make the optimal choice for your PEMF system. Like all sales folks, I do have a bias towards the Curatron system, after all, I’ve been selling it for over nine years and I only have one customer return! Yes only one customer return. I know that none of our competitors can make that statement!

Reflecting on nine years of selling the Curatron

Can you believe that we’ve been selling the Curatron for nine years with only one customer return? An amazing record. Read on…

Way back in early 2000, I received an email out of the blue from Ben Philipson in Israel at Curatronic. The email was introducing the Curatron 2000 Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy machine. My technical background caused me to more than skeptical.

I’m not sure if I answered the first email or not but soon after came another email and a phone call from this very persistent character who believed in his product and after a couple of calls and some prudent research I decided that perhaps that PEMF was not snake oil and perhaps it would help some people.

Ben convinced me to try selling the Curatron 2000 and an early version of the www.curatron.com website was born. Our first sale was to the father of an Olympic Silver Medalist working out in Colorado on July 09, 2000. The next was a month later to a gentleman in Arizona.

I didn’t know it then but Ben’s comapany was actually younger than Amjo. Amjo opened its doors in May of 1998, roughly 18 months before the formation of Curatronic in Israel.

Ben and I over the last nine years have become fast friends that trust each other implicitly. Ben, without a doubt is my best friend or perhaps Amjo’s best friend.

One very surprising statistic is that we have had had only one customer return in all the years we’ve been selling the Curatron.  That fact alone speaks volumes about the quality of the product and the gains our clients receive from using the device.

Neurosarcoidosis Cured?

Back in January, we sold s Curaton 2000HT to a woman with Neurosarcoiditis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. She had been diagnosed by her doctor in India. << Click Here to see the earlier article >>.

I had tried to call her a couple of times as she lives on the east coast and found that she was traveling.

On Thursday (Apr 16) I received the email below.

Dear Sir / Madam

This is just to introduce my self , I have recently launced BIOS 9000 Japanese Technology of Electric Field Therapy in India and whenever I have visitors from USA and wish to buy similar technology in US I suggest them your company, recently my relative”name withheld” living in Boston Mass. She bought one machine (Curatron 2000 HT) from you after testing this in India and was suffering from Sarcoidosis and now she is here again in India with a report of complete cure, I am just writing this to thank you for taking good care of her and continue promoting your name to the Indian Residents or any one living in US and wish to buy Electric Field Therapy equipment.

Best Regards

Sanjay Mukim

Static Magnetism vs Pulsed Electro Magnetic Therapy

Static Magnetism versus Pulsed Magnetic Therapy in Medical and Veterinary Use
Author: Dr. D.C. Laycock PhD, BEd(Hons) Member of the International Society for Bioelectromagnetism

This article is written to try to answer some of the questions posed about the efficacy and use of static magnets versus pulsed magnetic fields in both medical and veterinary use.

Magnetism is a product of moving charged particles. This can be within a conductor, such as a length of wire carrying an electric current, or found around certain types of materials where the crystal structure is such that a current is formed by electrons, sharing the orbits around the atoms making up the structure in an orderly direction. In a conducting wire a source of energy, i.e. a battery, is required to sustain the flow of electrons in order to overcome the natural resistance, whereas in a magnet, electrons freely orbit their atomic crystal structure, unaffected by any resistance. The flow of electrons in a magnet requires no external input of energy but the field produced is constant and as such has no dynamic component and is therefore not a source of energy in itself. When a constant flow of electrons through the wire is sustained, then the fields produced are identical in nature between the static magnet and the ‘induced’ field.

Pulsating magnetic fields differ in that they rise and fall around the conductors or coils as the current through them is varied. Static magnets are widely available for use in both the medical and veterinary fields with many claims made for their efficacy, but are such magnets of any real use? How do they work and where and when should they be applied?

From a purely physics point of view, any effect from magnetic interactions with soft tissue or bone requires a dynamic component. If a static magnet is brought into close proximity to a conductor, i.e. a piece of wire, then there is only an effect whilst the field or the wire are in motion relative to each other, i.e. an electric current is established during this dynamic period. Soft tissue is made up of billions of cells each of which is surrounded by a semi-permeable membrane. Through this membrane pass certain types of ions known as ‘cations’, which flow into the cells, and ‘anions’, which flow out. These different types of cations and anions provide the essential nutrients to sustain each cell to perform its designated function. These flows of ions constitute small electric currents in their own right, driven by a small charge that gives a similar effect to having a battery applied across the membrane. The flow of ions would produce a miniscule but virtually undetectable magnetic field. If cells are damaged by accident or disease then the ‘battery’ that drives the cell’s currents may be reduced in its ability to sustain the flow of ions and hence the cell either is reduced in its function, or dies. Magnetic fields applied to the area of injured cells need some dynamic interaction to have an effect on the anionic and cationic flows across their membranes. Since a magnetic field is a product of moving ions or electrons, then a dynamic field applied externally will have the effect of inducing movement of ions. The generation of electricity is based on this principle. If the generator is stationary and the armatures not in motion, then no electricity is produced. When the armature rotates, electricity will be produced.

Manufacturers that claim to have static magnets which can mimic the motion of pulsating magnetic fields are, therefore, making untrue statements since the magnetic fields, however shaped by positions of other static magnets, will never have a dynamic component. If they could achieve such dynamism from a static source then the world’s energy and pollution problems would be solved.
So are static magnets of any real use? Well perhaps the dynamic interactions may come from within the soft tissue itself. If a static field is applied to an area of injury then several possible factors may induce ionic movement.

These are:

Thermal agitation, – under normal conditions soft tissue is fluidic in nature and there may be some Brownian motion i.e. random vibrations of cells due to heat. These slightly moving cells may cut across the static field and as such aid some ionic movement through their membranes.
Pulsating vibrations, – from the heart as blood pulses through the tissue.
Muscle twitch – since muscles are never completely static, a magnet attached loosely to an affected area may interact this way. Normal muscular motion will also contribute to this effect.
Since the interactions are very small and in consistent, it follows that static magnets would need to be applied over a long term in order to achieve any benefit. This contrasts with pulsating fields that, by their very nature, interact as they rise and fall, cutting through the cells and aiding ionic flow. The frequencies at which the fields switch are also an important factor affecting different cells and conditions.

Other claims arise as to the question of the significance of magnetic polarity. Different effects from the north pole of a static magnet are claimed as opposed to the effects produced by the south pole. This has to be viewed with some skepticism, since a magnetic field is formed around the flow of ions or electrons causing it. This makes, in effect, a continuous field loop. The terms

If we apply the above logic to the case where a static field is applied to the skin surface, the field forms a continuous loop from which there is no net outflow. That entering the skin surface exactly equals that leaving it. If entering the skin, the field is taken as north on the outside, south on the inside, then as the field loops around and emerges from the skin, the north pole could now be said to be on the inside of the skin surface and the south on the outside. Since the net polarity effectively cancels out it is difficult to justify any claims for polarity.

Claims for the existence of monopole magnets and their increased efficacy are in the realms of ‘Pseudo Science’. A magnetic field is established around a flow of charged particles. The field orientation is as discussed above. The idea that somehow there could be only one polarity is a physical impossibility. The magnetic field emanating from the north pole of a magnet or coil is part of a continuous loop that cannot exist in an incomplete form. Such devices are a physical impossibility therefore the claims attributed to them are invalid.

Another claim made about static magnets is that of ‘magnetic energy’. This is given the terms positive and negative with the north-south orientation. North pole is said to have negative energy and the south pole to have positive. To understand what energy is we have to look at its definition. Energy simply means ‘the ability to do work’. How can this simple statement be applied to magnets? If energy is divided into its basic components it either exists as potential (stored) energy or as kinetic (dynamic) energy. Static magnets have neither potential nor kinetic, as explained previously. The only way any magnetic induction effect can be derived is by interacting with an external dynamic source of energy. Energy can therefore only be taken out of a system if it has been put there beforehand. Magnetism existing as negative or positive energy becomes meaningless in this context.

Pulsed magnetism requires that energy be put into the system to establish the magnetic field. When the source of energy is removed, the field collapses back into the wire. Used therapeutically, it is during the time that the field is being established or collapsed that energy is being used to drive cellular ionic flows. In other words, this is only during the dynamic periods. There is no concept of negative or positive energy that can be applied since the moving field causes ionic flow dependent upon the direction, angular interaction and electrostatic charges of the ions. The nature of cell membranes is such that they will generally only allow the cations to flow inwards and the anions outwards. The dynamic magnetic field has in effect a push-pull action on ionic flow, aiding both inward and outward movement of ions as it rises and collapses through the membranes.

In writing this short article I have not made reference to, or quoted, specific research. There are volumes available to those interested in a deeper study of therapeutic magnetism. But also, there are many reports of successful usage that are anecdotal rather than scientific in nature. I would suggest that these ‘successes’ are often the only ones reported but failures do not get a mention. In evaluating recovery, we should also not overlook the body’s own ability to help itself under certain conditions. Placebo effects are known to work in at least 25% of cases and as much as 50% are also possible. With animals, the placebo effects are generally missing. However a case was reported to me about racing greyhounds. These seemed to improve their performance over a period of a few weeks from the onset of treatment with pulsed magnetic therapy.  It was later found that the magnetic field applicators were faulty and the device had never functioned correctly. The ‘improvement’ of the animals may have occurred because the trainers had expected them to and possibly treated them differently to normal.

Pulsed magnetic therapy used in the correct manner, where the correct frequency and  pulse rate is selected, can be a useful aid to treatment of a variety of conditions. The use of static magnets is harder to justify scientifically, but may have some place, although limited, when applied over long periods of time.

north or south pole indicate which end the magnetic field appears to orientate itself. Since magnetic field poles either oppose or attract each other, depending upon their orientation, they tend to be given a perceived direction although no movement actually occurs. Where this direction of the field appears to emerge from the magnetic material then this is termed the north pole and where the field appears to re-enter the magnet this is the south pole. It follows therefore that at any position along the line of the field there is a north south orientation. Where it appears to come from is the north, where it flows to is the south’.

Cartillage Growth in the Knee

I borrowed this X-ray photo from Curatronic Ltd’s website. The photo clearly shows cartillage growth following treatment with a Curatron 2000 system.

Left side shows dramatic increase in cartillage growth over the "before" X-ray on the right.

On the X-ray at the right side the distance between the bones is almost non-existent resulting in very painful walking. On the left side the distance between the bones has increased dramatically, as result of new cartilage between the bones, resulting in pain free walking for this 70 year old lady.

This technology has undergone many scientific clinical trials worldwide. Tens of thousands of patients have been treated successfully with Curatron systems. A very high success percentage is reported.

These images were completed by Dr. Ahmed and Dr. Kumar of Bangalore, India. They reported that the Curatron 2000 PC was used with the Very High Energy Coil for three months. These are the first images like this that I have seen.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy, PEMT. How does it work?

Lecture abstract Dr. D. Laycock, Ph.D. Med. Eng. MBES, MIPEM, B.Ed.

All living cells within the body possess potentials between the inner and outer membrane of the cell, which, under normal healthy circumstances, are fixed. Different cells, e.g. Muscle cells and Nerve cells, have different potentials of about -70 mV respectively. When cells are damaged, these potentials change such that the balance across the membrane changes, causing the attraction of positive sodium ions into the cell and negative trace elements and proteins out of the cell. The net result is that liquid is attracted into the interstitial area and swelling or oedema ensues. The application of pulsed magnetic fields has, through research findings, been shown to help the body to restore normal potentials at an accelerated rate, thus aiding the healing of most wounds and reducing swelling faster. The most effective frequencies found by researchers so far, are very low frequency pulses of a 50Hz base. These, if gradually increased to 25 pulses per second for time periods of 600 seconds (10 minutes), condition the damaged tissue to aid the natural healing process.

Pain reduction is another area in which pulsed electromagnetic therapy has been shown to be very effective. Pain signals are transmitted along nerve cells to pre-synaptic terminals. At these terminals, channels in the cell alter due to a movement of ions. The membrane potential changes, causing the release of a chemical transmitter from a synaptic vesicle contained within the membrane. The pain signal is chemically transferred across the synaptic gap to chemical receptors on the post-synaptic nerve cell. This all happens in about 1/2000th of a second, as the synaptic gap is only 20 to 50 nm wide. As the pain signal, in chemical form, approaches the post-synaptic cell, the membrane changes and the signal is transferred. If we look at the voltages across the synaptic membrane then, under no pain conditions, the level is about -70 mV. When the pain signal approaches, the membrane potential increases to approximately +30 mV, allowing a sodium flow. This in turn triggers the synaptic vesicle to release the chemical transmitter and so transfer the pain signal across the synaptic gap or cleft. After the transmission, the voltage reduces back to its normal quiescent level until the next pain signal arrives.

The application of pulsed magnetism to painful sites causes the membrane to be lowered to a hyper-polarization level of about -90 mV. When a pain signal is detected, the voltage must now be raised to a relatively higher level in order to fire the synaptic vesicles. Since the average change of potential required to reach the trigger voltage of nearly +30 mV is +100 mV, the required change is too great and only +10 mV is attained. This voltage is generally too low to cause the synaptic vesicle to release the chemical transmitter and hence the pain signal is blocked. The most effective frequencies that have been observed from research in order to cause the above changes to membrane potentials, are a base frequency of around 100Hz and pulse rate settings of between 5 and 25Hz.

Interesting Call – Neurosarcoidosis

I received an interesting phone call yesterday from a woman suffering from neurosarcoidosis and rheumatoid arthritis. She had been in India recently and had received relief from her pain and some symptoms at a clinic where she was treated with a machine made in Japan called an Alpha machine.

With a lot of Google and Yahoo searching I could find nothing about it. If anyone does know what it is, you can email me at chris@cane.com.

We had lots of discussion between she and I and the folks at Curatronic, (the folks who make the Curatron)  that we sell at our www.curatron.com website. She ultimately ordered a Curatron 2000 HT as it comes with two pads, one full mattress and a smaller  14“ x 14” therapy pad that she and a friend will be using to help alleviate some ankle and hip pain. The smaller pad does a great job to improve circulation in localized areas which helps with pain reduction from her arthritis.

She’ll be receiving her new system early next week, it will be interesting to see how this works out for her.
