The Probe – What is it and why?

The Curatron Probe was developed last year to provide deep penetration in small areas. The Curatron probe has been designed for very local PEMF treatment like sinusitis, osteomyelitis of jaw bones, dental work, in short when you are not interested in treatment of the surrounding areas. In addition it is very effective for acupuncture applications and often makes treatment with needles superfluous.

The probe focuses the energy into a smaller area with out affecting the surrounding tissue. The flat surface of the probe provides high pulsing magnetic intensity of 100 Gauss, 10 mT (10 milli-Tesla).

The Curatron probe has been designed with a unique 3 dimensional focused pulsing magnetic field, with the highest energy density concentrated immediately in front of the probe. The picture above shows the magnetic energy distribution where the strongest field is white/yellow decreasing towards blue further away from the probe.

This construction allows for very effective and deep penetration into the body. When used for acupuncture high energy transfer via acupuncture points makes application very effective. Application of the Curatron probe often makes use of needles superfluous, which is very advantageous when treating children and adults who dislike skin penetration by needles. Let me begin by saying that Dr. Oz does not approve of or sponsor any particular product and his TV show discussed the technology of PEMF and not the names of the makers.

PEMF of Pulsed Electromagetic Field Therapy is not new. It is however new to the medical profession here in the USA when it comes to the use of PEMF in the areas of pain relief. The FDA has approved the technology  for certain types of fracture healing and I learned that Health Canada has approved device for knee pain.

Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy is FDA-approved to fuse bones and has been cleared in certain devices to reduce swelling and joint pain. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) work on the same physics.

This therapy has been used to treat pain and edema in soft tissue for over 60 years. The technology stemmed from radio frequency (RF) diathermy, which utilized a continuous electromagnetic field to produce heat in soft tissue.

A moving – or resonating – magnetic field can create currents without heating and thus directly alter cellular signaling. It has been firmly established that tissues including blood, muscle, ligaments, bone and cartilage respond to biophysical input, including electrical and electromagnetic fields. New studies show that with the proper field intensity and frequency, treatment with PEMF appears to be disease-modifying. The stimulation of TGFβ may be a mechanism by which PEMF favorably affects cartilage homeostasis. Through calcium-calmodulin-dependent pathways, PEMF may also increase nitric oxide activity.”

Public never warned about dangerous device!

This is not a new article but it is new to me. One of the challenges of selling PEMF devices is that many companies/individuals use different definitions for the PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) or PEMFT (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy) and I know from experience that our typical customer is confused by the data available delivered by the plethora of manufacturers that make a wide range of misleading statements. Some of the machines generate magnetic flux densities generally equal to the magnetic background that we all experience because we live on this planet. These very low energy devices perhaps are a waste of money but they are nat potentially harmful.

The man and his machine Panos Pappas demonstrates the power of his PAP-IMI by using a chain on his head to cause current to leap from the coil. He calls it "modern scientific alchemy" and "micro-lightning." Others call it "a piece of junk" and "the worst of the newest technologies."

There is another class of PEMF Devices that I find very scary. These are the machines sometimes referred to as PAPIMI or PAP-IMI (or PER-2000, PEMF- 100, Magnapulse, Deltapulse, Magnawave, Magnacharge, MG-33, Magnus Magnetica etc.) devices that generate huge very short pulses that instantaneously stimulate an area and then subside. I believe that the internal voltages reached in the cables that touch or surround your body are in excess of 30 kV (30,000 Volts). I find that very scary! Continue reading →

PEMF, Pacemakers and Implanted Electronic Devices.

I came across a post at the blog of Ben Philipson, the developer of the Curatron 2000 System. (Click Here For the Original Posting). Ben has extensive experience in this field and has been very helpful in teaching me about Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy.

What Ben Philipson says is:

“I am often asked “Can I use a PEMF device if I have a pacemaker or implant?”

The answer to this question is not straight forward and here follows some information about electromagnetic and static magnetic disturbance signals.

Many different frequencies and intensities are used in such devices, thus these warnings are in place because the resulting inducted intensities and frequencies are simply unpredictable.

PEMF devices powered by batteries, like bone growth stimulators, generate electromagnetic pulses (PEMF) with very limited energy levels. The energy generated during the pulsing time depends on the pulse width (= pulse duration) and pulse amplitude (like the volume on your radio) which form the amount of energy emitted during the pulse duration time.

Many makers of PEMF devices in their manuals, write that active implanted devices are contraindicated for use with pacemakers etc.

My feelings on this are similar to those of Ben but I live in a country with many lawyers and  litigators who would work till they died trying to prove that something we sold killed their patient. So let me be clear, I agree with Ben that I might use a Curatron 2000 system on my leg if I had an electronic implant in my chest BUT I WILL NOT AND CANNOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO THE SAME. This is a discussion that you should have with your doctor!

The New Travel Mattress used by the US Ski Team

One of the challenges of selling to people in the public eye is that they will not permit the use of their name and they will not or perhaps cannot ‘endorse’ a product. Suffice it to say, members of the US Ski Team travel a lot and our regular Curatron 2000 XP with the full mattress is quite bulky and a challenge to travel with.

We reacted a couple of months ago to a request for a ‘travel mattress’. The folks at the factory were marvelous. Within a few days of the request, the new travel mattress was born. See http://www.curatron.com/curatron-2000-XP-Travel-Mattress.htm.  The Travel Mattress weighs in at about 4 lb (under 2 kg) and folds to 12″ x 14″ x 3″ (30 cm x 35 cm x 7 cm). I did receive an email from one of our customers on the US Ski Team and he said “Hi Chris, so far it’s been working out great. It’s so much easier to travel with.“

I guess that’s all I’m allowed to say!

Avascular Necrosis AVN and the Curatron 2000

Avascular necrosis of the femoral head is a pathologic process that results from interruption of blood supply to the bone. As result the bone dies and loses strength and ultimately cannot support the skeleton anymore.

A few of months ago the factory was contacted by a pharmacist who suffered from severe femoral avascular necrosis at both sides as result of Diabetes. He was in constant pain and had great difficulty walking and could hardly function anymore.

His MRI clearly showed major problems and no doubt that in a short while he would end up in a wheelchair. Hip replacements would have been very problematic because both femurs were already in such a poor shape that it would be doubtful if it could be done at all.

He decided to purchase a PEMF Curatron 2000 XP model complete with high energy coil and treat himself daily for half an hour.

After 4 months he had a second MRI which clearly showed a substantial improvement of bone density in the affected areas.

These results can only be achieved with the Curatron because it has sufficient pulsed electromagnetic field intensity to penetrate the bones deep inside the body completely and redevelop blood supply to the affected bones, resulting in impressive increase in bone density within just a few months!

Curatronic introduces High Energy PEMFT Probe

For some time now, our customers have been asking us about spot treatment with PEMF. The folks at Curatronic have developed an amazing focused PEMFT Probe high energy probe providing up to 10 mT (milli Tesla) or 100 Gauss of pulsed magnetic flux density at it’s tip. The applications can provide relief for sinusitis, osteomyelitis of jaw bones, dental work, acupuncture to name a few.

Usually these kind of probes contain a coil scattering the magnetic energy around because of the probe’s construction. The field is distributed mainly around the probe and just a very small amount of the generated energy is actually available at the tip of the probe while penetration into the body is neglectible, especially when the energy generated by the device is already very low from the beginning.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy and ONJ Osteonecrosis of the Jaw

Once in a while we get emails from our customers that are worth sharing. KW in Texas was suffering from Osteonecrosis of the Jaw. She blamed the onset of the problem on biophosphonates that had been prescribed for her following breast cancer.

She wrote to us and said. “I wanted to let you know how much relief the mat has provided me regarding the osteonecrosis of my jaw. I no longer have pain and my mouth has healed. I know that the electromagnetic pulsing the mat provides has helped in this situation.

There are so many others who have been diagnosed with this horrific condition…….caused by the greedy drug companies releasing drugs that are unfit for human consumption……as well as the medical system that refuses to accept responsibility to look outside their paradigm and see that there are better ways for the body to heal than using drugs.

Curatron at Pain Clinicians Congress in Beijing

The 14th World Society of Pain Clinician’s Congress was held in Beijing recently and Dr. Ashfakh Ahmed* displayed the results of his study that was done between March of 2006 through March of 2010. 

His study objectives were:

  • To prove that knee replacement surgery is not the only option but only the last option
  • To discourage use of excessive pain killer medications to avoid long term complications  

Summary:

In India the vast majority of patients seek medical help at a very late stage, when major damage has been done and became irreversible. First patients consult their family physicians and are on painkillers for a long time. Even in these cases this 150 patients Curatron study shows that very good results are obtained.

Quote Dr. Ahmed: “Before I started using Curatron, I was treating with other modalities, without much success. The patients used to improve only temporarily and return back after sometime and the only solution was knee replacement. Only after the use of Curatron, the results have been great and long term and I have no doubt that Curatron has made all the difference”.

 

Highlights:

  • 150 Patients (56 male and 94 female) were treated for advanced osteoarthritis of the knee joints.
  • The study was performed between March 2006 and March 2010, with success rates of up-to 95%.

Conclusions:

Patients with knee arthritis need not to lead a painful, restricted and compromised life. A safe, non-operative, affordable and very effective treatment is available, even in the presence of cardiac, renal or other systemic diseases.
